I get the theme Hogsmeade but also find this years calendar lacked any real thought. Why not something related to the shrieking shack (the barrier); which would have played well with a scene between Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco. Including Harry’s invisibility cloak would have been a nice surprise. I see no reason for two Christmas trees; other than lack of ideas. I throughly enjoy everything LEGO Harry Potter but this set fell flat. I hope to see an improvement next year; such as, provide a mystery item that is only revealed behind door 24 and does not show up on the how to build list.

This year’s Harry Potter Advent Calendar was really disappointing. I have gotten the Harry Potter calendar Lego put out for three years now, and so far this one is pretty disappointing. The builds are extremely basic and some could be in any set. A table and chair with mistletoe? A bench? Very disappointing. It seems like this is Hogsmeade themed. It’s alright since I have the village. Another thing- it’s tiring getting Harry, Ron, and Hermione every year. It would be better to have some variety, although I do appreciate their winter clothes in this set.

I was so excited for this years advent calendar, and couldn’t wait to open all the doors and put the pieces together. Man, am I disappointed. I guess the theme of this years is Book 3, which is my favorite book, but the figure are incredibly disappointing. Why do I have two trees, and no Remus Lupin or Sirius Black? Why do I have a street light, and a mystery tumbling barrel, instead of a werewolf and a giant black dog, or levitating Snape? There was so much potential in the theme, and I am let down. The best part of this years set is the Frosty the Snowman figure.

My daughter at the age of ten is STILL a huge Harry Potter fan. When we went to Myers to pick up a few necessities, this caught her eye. She loved it but didn’t say anything while we were in the store. She was almost in tears when we left. When I asked her why she was upset, she said she saw the Harry Potter Advent Calendar, loved it, but didn’t want to ask for too much. I told her that she could always ask, that it wasn’t expensive, not too much. We made a special trip back to Myers for it and she was so happy. She loves the figures which work well with her other Harry Potter Lego sets.
