I would not purchase this tree, or any tree from Balsam Hill
Sam· Review provided by balsamhill.com · December 3, 2024
In October we purchased a pre-lit Yukon Spruce for over $1000. The tree was purchased after several calls to customer support to determine the best tree that fits our needs. We chose this tree because it had space between the branches so that ornaments could be hung deeper on a tree branch.
Problems that were discovered when we put up the tree over Thanksgiving weekend:
1) The top spike branch of the tree is not strong enough for a tree topper. Balsam Hill support says that they sell a rod that can be zip tied to the tree trunk to support the tree topper ornament. At the time of my call they were out of stock. Probably because everyone needs this rod in order to hold a tree toper ornament on their tree. This rod should be included with every tree when purchased.
2) Because there is space between the branches the bulky Connect Plugs are very visible. There are 6 of them next to each other which are very unsightly. Trying to hide them by fluffing the tree does not work on a Yukon Spruce. We pushed the cords to the back and are hiding them with branches from the sample box.
3) The tree smells of plastic. I advise anyone who purchases a tree to set it up in a garage for a week or so which may help reduce this terrible smell.
4) The pre-lit tree lights have cords that connect from branch to branch which makes it difficult to fluff some branches because of the short distance between the lights. If the cords were a bit longer between the lights, it would be easier to fluff the tree. However, this would result in the ugly cords showing more than they do now.
5) Since we purchased the tree in Oct and set it up in Nov a return was not an option as too much time had occurred. I advise everyone to not only set up your tree as soon as you get it, but to decorate it with ornaments to see if the astatic meets your level of acceptance. I wish we would have as I would have returned the tree immediately.
6) This tree is not well designed.
Quality packaging. Branch tip look real. Wire bundles seen.

I just had to put this together to make sure it works before next December. Assembly was easy and I can;t wait until Christmas now. We got the kind of tree that has spaces above and below branches because it makes ornament display easier clear back to the trunk. Because of the spaces between boughs you can see the wire ends near the trunk and the bundles of wires between each of the 4 sections. But again hoping ornaments will conceal some of that. The lights were the wired typed and are the clear and clear plus color LEDs. The LED are warm white and they are gorgeous. Light intensity can be varied and a remote control or inline control is how you control the lights. The wire run through the trunk and connecting trunk together is the connection for the light section on each piece. No lights to run or plug in.

The two boxes are huge that they come delivered in but forget about getting the branches small enough to fit in the boxes again. Instead two plastic/canvas bags are use for the four sections. These bags are 80 pounds each and are 5 feet long but not too big to wrap your arms around. They'll take up 40 cu feet of space if the two bags are piled on top of each other.
Great tree, highly recommend

We swore we'd never buy a fake tree..but here we are..tired of doing the lights. We searched quite a bit before deciding on this Yukon Spruce. It was our tradition to always go cut a Silver Tip (we live in the Sierra Nevadas) so finding a fake tree with the similar "gaps" was not easy. This tree fits the bill! We did not "fluff" it a whole lot so we have larger gaps for our huge ornaments, and it is very pretty! If they offered a 6' wide with the 7.5' height..it would be perfect.
Only complaints..the wiring on the trunk is hideous & all the connectors hang in one spot only..a huge wad of connectors that show terribly, so we staggered them & zip tied them to the trunk to hide them..and before purchasing I chatted with Balsalm Hill asking if this tree had a blinking option..I was told it most definitely did..well, it most definitely does not. Huge disappointment because we like blinking lights, but we decided to keep the tree because it really does look really great for a fake tree with "gaps"! Not an easy thing to find. If you like Silver Tips, or gappy trees, this one I would recommend!
Solid product, but not as full as it looks!

This is my first artificial tree and Balsam Hill was at the top of a very short list. The tree has the perfect shape, it went together in mere minutes, and the effort placed in making the product feel like Christmas from the moment I opened the box was a delightful experience--from the instruction manuals to the red ribbon securing each layer of the tree! Everything I needed for storage, bulb replacements, and for shaping the tree were there--I didn't need anything more. The only reason I gave this tree 4/5 stars is because the initial image hooked me, and I can attest it will never look that full--but it does look authentic! The other images on this product are more accurate and it's still a lovely tree as long as you put some serious effort into shaping it. The ability to change lights from white to colored to colored + white makes it fun for my family to alter based on mood, and the quality of the product far exceeds my past experience with similar products owned by extended family members. This made my Christmas merry and bright!
