November 20, 2024On first look they are understated, with a tiny status light, on button, headphone socket and a USBC port for charging. They collapse well and fit neatly into the soft carry case which seems enough to protect it from minor falls but I'd pack it at the top of my luggage. They also come with good length USBC and headphone cables.
Setup was easy, just press and hold the on button, and they showed up instantly on both my mac and android phone. They also paired first time with my smartwatch which most other brands have struggled with. I've had no dropouts or other issues as of yet.
I'm no audiophile but the sound is crisp and clear with a decent amount of bass, as good as any other set of 'premium' headphones I've owned and better than most. Calls were crisp and clear with no issues.
The passive noise cancellation works surprisingly well, I've not tested it on a packed commuter train but they block most noises out when I'm working.
Controls are simple, press the left ear one to three times to play/pause, skip forward or back. You can't change how these controls work in the app which seems strangely lacking; it would be nice to be able to get them to skip time rather than tracks - especially useful for audio books.
Overall they are comfy, although a little tight so I couldn't keep them on for long periods; they may be better suited to those with a smaller head. They also made my ears hot after a while, but that happens with any over or on ear headphones I use.
I've personally not had a need to try the audio cable but it allows them to be used without draining the battery, which is a nice touch.
Overall a great on ear headphone that I'd highly recommend, I'll definitely be adding Beats to my list of preferred audio technology brands.

October 22, 2024I purchased these Beats Solo 4 headphones today from Target because I am in a dire need of new headphones. my AirPods battery life is not the best anymore ( I’ve had them for 6 years so they were worth the money but now constantly dies really fast top 5/6 hours ) I want to purchase the new Apple AirPod max but I want the 2nd generation so because they haven’t released those yet I went the beats route since these are way cheaper and I believe own by Apple now so instead of buying the AirPods Max usb-c I got these just incase Apple comes out with the AirPods Max 2nd generation soon, I wouldn’t be spending that $500+ twice.. so just back story why I got these.. CONS - I do not like these headphones at all!! - I bought specifically for the gym today I tested them out at the gym and they constantly kept sliding off my head. -they do not stop playing when I take them off ( like my AirPods ) -they soaked up all the sweats that cause them to slip and slide on my ears. - due to the cushion part soaking up the sweat I see the color already turning ( from 1 day of use!?!?) -due to the cushion part soaking up the sweat it’s super wet I was constantly wiping them at the gym when I got home I was wiping them with a towel they’re still wet so I’m concerned it’s going to to have a sweat smell. - it does not come with a charging piece I don’t have that kind of charge but thank goodness I was able to utilized my laptop to charge it. -I had a hard time connecting it to my Bluetooth ( it was charging with the cord it came with it would not connect to my Bluetooth something told me to take the plug out once I did it was able to connect to my Bluetooth, ( no where on the instructions does it state that, it only state to hold the power button to connect to Bluetooth which it did not work!) - my ears felt like they were suffocating, very snug on uncomfortable I don’t even have really big ears. - I don’t like the way it don’t cover my whole ears, it just sit on top of my ears (if that makes sense when you see people with it on, I don’t like that look, I prefer how the Apple AirPods Max look on way more). - at some point the music was staticky which was super weird so I’d have to stop playing it restart it. - I don’t like how these don’t have noise cancellation. PROS -the cloud pink color is pretty -long battery life So if you read this, you’re probably like that’s a lot of cons, yes, I am returning these back to target by end of this week, I’m not even sure if I’ll continue wearing them for the end of the week because I’m scared the ear cushions are going to get super dirty I want my money back, I really want the Apple AirPod max 2nd generation but wanted to get something less expensive for the meantime but these are not it, I’ll just get another pair of AirPods until the AirPods Max 2nd generation are released.
Good sound quality, a little tight fitting.

November 19, 2024The Beats Solo4 headphones are stylish and more compact than other over ear headphones I have used. The downside to this is that they are quite snug on my ears and long periods of wear this does become uncomfortable. The snug fit is good for them staying in place during exercise though.
The connection to Apple devices is seamless. As soon as you turn the headphones on they pop up in the centre of an Ipad/iphone screen to connect to. There is also an app you can download for controls which I don't feel is completely necessary but Beats says it gives a better sound setting experience. The connection to Android was also good although not as seamless as on Apple.
The build quality is good, the headphones feel solid and maneuver down to the foldable position with ease. The little bag that comes with the headphones is neat and good for protection when packing away in a bigger bag. There is a usb-c cable for charging and an aux included where Bluetooth connection isn't possible. I had to read the instructions to work out how to adjust the volume on the outside of the cup but once you know it's simple to use.
The sound quality is good, nice bass, and audio in general is full bodied. The headphones block out a lot of outside noise but they're not noise cancelling.
To get a 5 star review from me I'd like the headphones to be a little less tight and encompass more of the ear. However, if you're looking for something a little more compact with a tight fit for running or other exercise, these would be a good option.
Beats for days!

November 19, 2024I typically use in-ear or over-ear headphones, as I have found in the past that on-ear headphones can make my earlobes hurt after a while, this is particularly around the piercings I have. However, I found these beats to feel a lot better and comfortable, this could be to do with the headphones not 'squeezing my head as much as other brands or the tilted angle of the speakers themselves, feeling more ergonomic.
I found the quality of the product didn't just stop at the ergonomics, the minimal design was really nice. I didn't even notice that the play / pause button was the centre of the 'b' on the one ear, until after using them for quite a while. The build quality of the product was also great, folding and unfolding the headphones was a sturdy mechanism, I didn't feel worried that over time this was going to become a weak joint.
Connectivity was really good. When I left my phone in one room, I could walk around my flat to other rooms with the music / podcasts still coming through clearly.
I'll admit I've never spent as much on headphones as these cost, but now I have tried a slightly more expensive headphone set, I am convinced that you do pay more for a quality experience. I am no sound expert, but the sound I got from these headphones was great in my opinion, and they didn't blast my ears off by over amping the loudness to make up for a more rounded audio.
Additional note: The carry case is a really nice touch. I like how the zipper had a material lining to prevent it from scratching the headphones.
